Washington DC

March 16-19, 22-25
Spring Break!!

In March, we headed over on our free tickets to DC. We stayed with the newly married couple, Marlena and Oscar! It was a bit of a wedding celebration for them as they invited people over to watch the video of their ceremony at the courthouse. Very sweet.

The highlight of our trip was the big chair. Actually, Marlena takes many guests out to the big chair that is some sort of art in front of a school in Georgetown.

Our first day we met up with Tory who was giving tours for his representative. We tagged along on the "special tour" and got in trouble for sitting in the congressional chairs. Whatever. It was a fun experience but I remember the days when you could wander around the building without any sort of escort. Security is tight now.

The weather was chilly and we layered up for the long days of walking outside. In the evenings, Marlena had many social events planned and we seemed to have parties every night.

One party was the chocolate fondue party where her co-worker impressed us with a full assortment of goodies to dip in the chocolate. Quite yummy.

At another party, Gina's cat Maverick was the hit after I tied floss around a toy mouse and he went nuts. He was a very fun cat.

Massimo enjoyed the pasta of the party- so much that he finished the bowl.

We took a little side trip up to NY city but returned to DC just in time to see the very start of the cherry blosson festival.
